I have been teaching for fifteen years total, and twelve of those years have been at B.I.S. teaching art. I look forward to teaching your child/children about Visual Art. 6th graders have art each day for the entire year, and 5th graders rotate electives every 9 weeks.
My college degrees are in Advertising and Commercial Art from the University of Texas at Austin. I was certified to teach by Region 13 in Austin in 2001 and certified to teach all- grade level Art in 2003.
Prior to teaching, I worked for more than 20 years in corporate marketing and advertising with the SETON Healthcare Network and the City of Austin, marketing new programs and services.
Often, parents and others ask what type of supplies are needed for art --first of all, thanks for asking! Here is a short list of frequently needed items: yarn, fabric, pencils, erasers, markers, acrylic paint, paint brushes, aprons, scissors, glue sticks, hot glue sticks (mini), EXPO markers, ultra-fine and fine point black sharpies, buttons, beads, colored pipe cleaners, play-doh, hand held pencil sharpeners, popsicle/craft sticks, index cards, post-it notes, and foaming hand wash. Please feel free to donate any of the supplies at any time throughout the year. Please call (512)321-6023 ext. 43112 to make arrangements for large drop-offs.
As Stephen Wright once said, "My favorite nation is a donation"!
