I am the daughter of missionaries who worked overseas and because of that I was born in Hawaii, spent most of my younger years in Viet Nam, and spent my high school years in Thailand.
After graduating from Bangkok International School, I came to the U. S. and attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Shortly after graduating I went back to Asia to work with refugees there.
Working with refugees was a rewarding experience and I had the honor of serving these people while living in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Viet Nam, and Bosnia. My last few years in this work was in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and at this post I was able to support returnees establish small businesses with a grant from the U.S. State Department. At the conclusion of our contract here, my husband and I decided it was time to bring our 2 children back to have the experience of growing up in the U. S. A. and we came back to the place where my father was born - Hearne, Texas.
This is my 12th year as a teacher having taught my first 5 years in Gause, Texas. I started out at CCMS teaching 7th and 8th grader ELA and started teaching 5th grade social studies and writing at BIS 2 years ago.
