Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!
I am honored to have the opportunity to join the Bastrop Intermediate team this year. It is my goal to offer the supports necessary to help our BIS Kodiaks become the best students they can be.
I am joining BIS after spending the past six years as a 6th and 7th grade math teacher at Del Valle Middle School. During my time at DVMS, I served as a grade level PLC leader, the math department chair, the GT coordinator, and an administrative intern. I received my Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas A&M University and my Master’s in Education Administration from Lamar University.
I am excited to serve the Bastrop community! Please contact me via email at email@example.com and I look forward to hearing from you.
Bio for David Ellis
David Ellis is beginning his 22nd year in education this year and comes to BIS with a wide range of experience working as a teacher, coach, and administrator. He has successfully served students from diverse backgrounds in grades 6-12. A native of Kaufman, Texas, Mr. Ellis earned his B.S. in Business Management from East Texas Baptist University in 1991, his teaching certification from The University of Texas, Arlington in 1996, and his Master of Education from Concordia University in 2012.
After a 5 year career in corporate business, David began his teaching career in 1996 at Coppell Middle School West in Coppell ISD as a 6th grade Social Studies teacher and coach. In 1999, Mr. Ellis relocated to Austin and worked in Dripping Springs ISD for 9 years where he taught World Geography, US History, and Economics while coaching football and baseball. In 2007, he accepted an opportunity to teach and coach football and baseball at Bastrop High School, where he met a beautiful Geography teacher, named Raina who is now his wife of 7 years and is currently the lead counselor at Cedar Creek High School.
After retiring from coaching in 2010, Mr. Ellis transferred to Cedar Creek High School and taught US History, AP US History, Government, and Economics. It was during this time that he decided that after 17 years in the classroom he would become a campus administrator. In 2013 Mr. Ellis accepted a position as an Assistant Principal at Manor High School and most recently he was in the same role at Decker Middle School in Manor ISD.
Mr. Ellis is the proud father of an awesome 3 year old named Clay, who is starting Pre-K classes this fall at Emile Elementary. When not at work, Mr. Ellis enjoys spending time with Raina and Clay, watching “America’s Team” the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, or the Texas Longhorns.
Mr. Ellis looks forward to being a positive change agent at BIS and is excited to once again be back home in BISD where he and his family live. As a stakeholder in the district, Mr. Ellis is passionate about improving the educational opportunities of all students in BISD.
